Shred Like a Girl

A third year uni project

Aiming to boost confidence for preteen girls, an audience who tend to suffer from low self-esteem.

The big idea is to bring skateboarding into intermediate schools.

We chose skateboarding because of its mental, emotional and physical benefits - using it as a vehicle to boost the confidence levels and delivering it to them at their place of learning.

Touchpoint one: Promotional video shown to the girls.

Touchpoint two: A van arrives at the school with a pop-up skatepark inside. The girls get to try skateboarding with the presence of coaches.

Touchpoint three: Afterwards the girls are given a ‘zinepack’ featuring a poster, stickers and a monthly zine. The zine has competitions, inspiration, tips and tricks.

To keep the project ongoing, ‘Shred Like a Girl’ encourages schools to set up a skate club.

This was a group project. Couldn’t have done it without Lilly Overton.

Unable to show everything due to accessibility issues.
